Roblox and Xsolla Spearhead Crypto Adoption with XRP Integration

Gaming is steering toward a significant shift in payment methods, as XRP, the cryptocurrency affiliated with Ripple, is now integrated as a mode of payment for gaming titans like Roblox and Smitegame.
Linking the crypto world with gaming, Xsolla—a distinguished gaming enterprise based in Los Angeles—has rolled out this feature in partnership with the BitPay payment processor. Having been active since 2005, Xsolla essentially caters to game publishers and developers with its comprehensive tool suite and a variety of services.
Xsolla had initially integrated BitPay in December 2014 to improve in-game transactions. This partnership was a landmark one, as it paved the road for leveraging Bitcoin for in-game purchases, a move that captured the attention of diverse segments of the gaming industry. In August 2023, Xsolla magnified its cryptocurrency framework by collaborating with Crypto.com Pay. In September 2023, BitPay facilitated Xsolla to offer PayPal USD payments to customers, thereby becoming a significant player in the ongoing crypto revolution in the gaming industry.
BitPay’s recent addition of global support for XRP followed Ripple’s regulatory victory. The integration allows BitPay users to buy, store, and swap XRP through the BitPay Wallet, and also empowers merchants to accept XRP payments from over a hundred differing wallets. This forward-thinking approach has positioned BitPay at the forefront of cryptocurrency payment flexibility.
In terms of sheer figures, Roblox commands an impressive presence with a dedicated player base. Its users—around 65.5 million interacting daily on the platform—spent around $773 million on in-game purchases in the first quarter of 2023 alone.
Aside from integrating cryptocurrency into its payment system, Xsolla has also partnered with Coinchange Financial and TradeZing. Together, they developed a cutting-edge non-fungible tokens payment solution.
With Roblox and other games readily available across mainstream platforms like Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, the integration of XRP as a viable payment option is set to make waves. BitPay’s involvement ensures a smooth connection with crypto wallets, further elevating Xsolla’s reputation as an industry-leading service.
