The U.S. Department of Justice opens a website for victims of SBF
In order to efficiently communicate with victims of the FTX debacle and more specifically of the fraud by FTX’s former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, the U.S. Department of Justice decided to open a website and is encouraging people to come forward with their pleas. People directly impacted by the collapse of FTX number more than 1 million, so this website could streamline instant communications about the development of the case against SBF.
A press statement released by the DOJ lists 10 rights for the victims of federal crimes. Among those rights, we can mention :
“The right to be reasonably heard at any public proceeding in the district court involving release, plea, sentencing, or any parole proceeding.”
Or,
“The right to reasonable, accurate, and timely notice of any public court proceeding, or any parole proceeding, involving the crime or of any release or escape of the accused.”
Meanwhile, FTX’s new management is working with the Bahamian liquidators to resolve the issues of fund recovery for the victims. A dispute between the two had rose up as it was reported that the Bahamas liquidators were holding $3.5 billion of FTX assets.
