Sber, Russia’s largest bank, announced the compatibility of its blockchain with Ethereum
Sber, which counts the Russian government as his main shareholder, announced that its proprietary blockchain platform will be compatible with the Ethereum network.
The bank will also integrate the famous Metamask wallet. Developers will be able to deploy smart contracts and tokens from the Sber platform to the Ethereum network.
This marks another step in Russia’s advancements towards crypto, in a financial situation where most banks are subjects to sanctions relative to the Ukraine invasion. Putin earlier this week asked for a blockchain payment network to bypass the SWIFT messaging system used for financial transactions.
