FTX hacker ranks 34th in list of largest ETH address balances
Following the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing of the exchange, a hacker drained around $400 million in ETH, BNB and various stablecoins. According to Etherscan, the loot is of around 241,5k ETH, worth more than $280 million.
This puts the hacker in 34th place in the list of largest ETH address balances.
The work has been described by many as amateur, but the amount stolen is no child’s play.
According to recent twitter threads, to show the lack of expertise, it would seem that the hacker used his/her own Kraken account to pay for transaction fees. Thanks to the strict KYC rules of the exchange, Kraken’s Chief security Officer Nick Percoco was able to go on Twitter as early as the following day to announce that the identity of the hacker was known. We have no details of precise actions being taken at this time apart from frozen assets.
